Having discussed in depth the IGT’s from Tuscany in previous editions, I thought it might be of interest that in this year's introduction I give a brief explanation of the history of viticulture in Tuscany. The arrival of the Etruscans in the 8th century BC is a good place to start. Ancient amphora remnants originally from Tuscany for the purpose of transporting wine to southern Italy and Gaul, have been found and authenticated. Gaul is now known as France, Belgium, Germany a
