If anyone was ever concerned about the potential life span of Brunello, then as far as I am concerned, after tasting this 1993 Brunello di Montalcino Mastrojanni Vigna Schiena d’Asino, ...”no case to answer!”
After 25 years from vintage: a ruby red with slight amber hue emerged showing blue floral notes, liquorice, dark cherry, forest floor and dried tobacco...but so fresh...a joy!

The current Mastrojanni logo/label and brand execution is quite beautiful compared to some other Brunello di Montalcino labels. It is modern and communicates that each bottle is part of a family.
But, let’s take a minute and appreciate the craft in the 1993 Mastrojanni label: the detailing and time spent on it is just spectacular, and I for one will say it adds to the quality of the wine tasting experience that starts well before liquid and lips make contact. The label oozes craft from the die-cut “1993” and the intricate gold foiling to the attention to detail of the typeface and type setting.
Compared to the mass-manufactured labels we see today on some of the best wines in the world, why have we lost the attention to detail on the packaging front?
